Manchester Terrier / Hound / Mixed (short coat) Dog

Stripe the Dog needs a home

Hi everyone – My name is Stripe and I am looking for my special forever home.  My life started out kind of on the “ruff” side.  I was found by some good Samaritans on the Apache Reservation and brought to the monthly clinic to be checked out by some awesome veterinarians.  My hind legs were paralyzed, and I had a gnarly wound on my back-left foot.

My foster family took me in and gave me a second chance and a new lease on life and I have been with them for a few months while learned to walk again and heal.  Although they tried to save my leg, I ended up having to have it amputated because of nerve damage to my foot and I wouldn’t leave it alone.  So now I’m officially a member of the special tripod club!  I think I should get a cool bandana or a cool hat for that. You know, something fashion forward.

Because of my original paralysis and residual neurological issues, I do have some issues with holding in my “pee”.  I get excited and I pee, and I like to walk and pee and sometimes I can’t hold my pee. The doctor says I may grow out of it, but then again, I may not. But I will try! Also, my good hind leg isn’t as strong as it should be and I would really like to work on that.  When I get to motoring (as I like to do) I will drag hind end a bit but doctor thinks with some good rehab, like slow walks, my leg will get stronger.

I am about 9 months old now, weigh about 30 pounds and I am a TRUE love bug and been told I'm quite the character.  I’m a very happy boy who doesn’t let my “ruff” start diminish my zest for life.  I’ve never been around cats but I’m sure I would like them, I just really LOVE to play. I LOVE tennis balls and squeak toys. Squeaky tennis balls are my FAVORITE! Although I get along really well with other dogs, the doctor thinks it might be a good idea to be an only dog for a while so that my new family can devote more time to my special needs and help me gain my strength and establish a routine that might help with my “pee” accidents as well as general puppy training.

If you think you would be willing to help me with my special needs and like to become my forever family, please contact Help A Dog Smile for an adoption application.  I promise I will give you a lifetime of love and devotion “fur” sure!
